Jezera means “the lakes”. It was named after the large pools that form on the swampy ground south west of the town in winter. It was once the the biggest fishing centre in the area. Fishing remains important and the town organises an international competition every September.
Jezera is on the east side of the island of Murter, about 1 mile south of Tisno. It’s not to be confused with Jezera Village, a large campsite and holiday village further north.
The small settlement is somewhat dwarfed by the marina that has taken over much of the bay and the facilities aren’t as extensive as first impressions might suggest. However, you’ll find a grocers and several restaurants and cafes in the village, in addition to the facilities at the marina.
