The Nikiana Beach Club is located a few miles south of Lefkas. Lefkas is capital of the island of the same name and one of Greece’s Ionian islands. It’s a small friendly place offering a range of sailing and other activities including dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, yachting, swimming, kids clubs and mountain biking.
For novices or those that want to advance their skills, tuition is available, including courses leading to Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualifications. It is also possible to combine a stay at the Club with a flotilla or bareboat yacht charter.
Unlike many larger beach clubs, the Nikiana is well integrated in to the surroundings. You can eat at the taverna on site but just a couple of minutes walk away is the village, offering further choices.
The Club is a short ride from Preveza Airport, served by flights from London, Bristol and Manchester. I can offer flight inclusive packages through ATOL bonded UK tour operators or you can make your own way there and book accommodation only. Optional airport transfers are available.
The Nikiana has just 32 rooms, in three traditionally styled 2 storey blocks arranged around a courtyard. Rooms are a mix of doubles, twins and family rooms, the latter comprising a double with adjoining room containing 2 bunk beds.
Rooms are air conditioned with balcony, ensuite toilet and shower. Each contains a fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, and satellite TV. Most rooms have a partial or full sea view from the room or balcony. Rooms are cleaned daily.
On site is the family run taverna and pool bar. Accommodation is on a B & B basis, so you’re not tied to using the on site taverna and can explore the other restaurants in the village.
The Nikiana Beach Club offers a wide range of equipment, use of which is included in the price. There’s a range of dinghies to suite all abilities:
- 8 x Laser Picos

The Nikiana Beach Club offers a range of dinghy, windsurf, power boat and yachting courses for those who just want a refresher to those wanting formal qualifications.

The Club has a fresh water swimming pool.
During high season (mid July to end of August), Kids Clubs are laid on to give parents some relief. These cover three age groups; ages 5-7, 8-12 and 13-18. As well as sea based activities, there are pool & beach games.
Evening events include quizzes, a Greek night. At the end of each week there’s a regatta, with special classes for youngsters, and an awards ceremony to reward good or otherwise notable performances!
Bikes are available to hire and guided mountain bike tours are offered in conjunction with a local specialist organisation. These vary in length and difficulty so you don’t have to be an experienced rider to take part. Riders are provided with a Specialized Rockhopper hardtail mountain bike, helmet and gloves. Daily bike hire is also available.
If you tire of all the activity, Nikiana offers a number of attractions within easy reach. A short distance to the north is Lefkas, the island’s capital. Here you’ll find an old town that’s a mass of narrow alleys and well worth exploring.
To the south is Nidri from where you can take a boat to trip to another of the nearby islands. If that’s not enough, hire a car and explore Lefkas or hop over the bridge to the mainland where there’s a choice of historic sites to visit.
