Fort Rose lies at the tip of the Lustica peninsula. It stands guard over the entrance to the Bay of Kotor.
As the importance of the fortifications declined, the settlement became just a small fishing village. In more recent times, it has become a rather chic tourist destination.
In truth there’s little here; a stoney beach, a couple of restaurants and some cottages. Oh, and the modern boutique hotel, built in to what was the fort.
For sailors, it’s main significance is as a convenient stopping off point for yachts going between Croatia and Montenegro. Don’t expect major provisioning opportunities as the village has poor road connections. However, it’s a nice place to chill out for a night.
