On the south eastern side of Kolocep, Gornje Celo is a wonderful place to drop the hook and kick back for the afternoon or overnight. Approximately 3 nautical miles from Dubrovnik, it is very popular with locals and can become quite crowded during the afternoon and early evening but is all the more fun for it. Use Gornje Celo as a first or last night on your Dubrovnik yacht charter and you won’t be disappointed.
As dusk falls paddle ashore and share tall tales and vino with the friendly islanders at the tiny bar/café on the quay in the little harbour. It may also be possible to go alongside the trip boat quay once they stop running for the night; check with someone in the know first as water taxis sometimes come out here from Dubrovnik and surrounding areas in the evenings.
Kolocep is a fascinating island. There are plenty of well marked walking tracks, allowing you to enjoy the diverse scenery. The island was once very popular with the nobility of Dubrovnik who built their summer mansions here. Sadly most lie in ruins today but the island is slowly being restored to its former glory. Gornje Celo, like nearby Donje Celo retains a pleasant un-touristy feel which allows you an opportunity to mingle with the locals in a more natural way.
