On the east side of Lefkas island, Nidri revolves round the water. Once a small fishing village, the large bay now buzzes with craft large and small.
It’s a ramshackle place, apparently thrown together with whatever was to hand to serve the burgeoning watersports and yacht charter companies. It’s now one of the busiest resorts on Lefkas.
It’s a lively village, especially when the flotillas are in. There’s a good range of restaurants catering for diverse tastes. Bars and cafes are in abundance, whether you want a quiet drink or to party the night away. It’s also a good place to stock up your yacht.
For the adrenaline junkies there just about every watersport imaginable. Ferries and day trips also operate so you need to keep your eyes open for other water users.
Nidri has a fairly flat hinterland so you can take a gentle walk or cycle ride through the olive groves. Further back, you can reach greater heights. The hills offering some good views over surrounding islands such as Scorpios, once home to the Onassis family.
Otherwise there’s little in the way of sights, though the cool pools of the Nidri waterfalls are a popular attraction. Nidri is more a place to go for the vibe than the cultural attractions. Whether you’re starting your yacht charter here or just passing through, you can take it at whatever pace you fancy.
