Sogut: Yacht quay from the restaurant

This small village is the port for a slightly larger village of the same name, up in the hills. It’s a popular stop with charter sailors. In recent years it has been adopted by one of the flotilla companies as their local sailing base.

A couple of restaurants sit near the quay with traditional wooden boat building still much in evidence on the sea front. It’s often possible to see a Gulet hauled out on to the beach under repair.

There’s a small mini market next to one of the restaurants, with a larger supermarket about 200 yards out of the village. For anything else brace yourself for a long walk up to the village in the hills, or take a sail around to Bozburun.

For the culture vultures there are some small ruins in the small bay opposite if you want to dinghy over or anchor nearby. If you fancy a night at anchor, this is a good sheltered spot.

The quay is very obvious, near the Octopus Restaurant. Though this is a popular stop for the flotillas, there’s usually ample room and bareboat charterers shouldn’t have any trouble getting a spot. Worst case you can anchor nearby.
