This small resort on the south west corner of the Bodrum peninsula is one of the nicer places in the area. Akyarlar is a market town with a small but decent beach (though it does get crowded). A cobbled street leads down from the coast road, lined with shops and ending with an array of restaurants and bars overlooking the small harbour.
Akyarlar’s market takes place ever Thursday but you won’t run short of provisions on other days. For the energetic, a walk up the chalet splattered hill behind the town offers excellent views across to Kos.
That’s about all there is to Akyarlar but then what more do you want than somewhere to tie up your yacht, a swim, some shops for provisioning, a walk to build up your appetite and a choice of restaurants to sate it. Well I suppose some spectacular scenery would be good but you’ll get enough of that elsewhere!
