A lush green sloped bay which offers great shelter. The popular anchorage at English Harbour is uninhabited, but on the opposite side of the bay there are a couple of restaurants in the Okluk Koyu inlet.
It’s a very tranquil spot but for the more energetic, as well as being a great place for a swim there are some lovely walks through the woods.
The inlet has it’s own statue, of a mermaid, at the entrance. There are two good restaurants, each with it’s own jetty, and each having a mini market offering basic provisions.
I last visited in September 2012 and the dive school that was there seemed to have gone. However what surprised me most was how quiet it was, given it was only just past the peak of the bareboat season. The yachts that were in seemed mostly unoccupied and it was a truly peaceful place. Visit soon before everyone realises what they’re missing!
