Agios Stefanos / Avliotes (NW Corfu)

Agios Stefanos was once a small fishing harbour serving the nearby village of Avliotes. But the long sweeping beach north of the harbour soon drew the tourists. Modern accommodation and facilities for holiday makers have pretty much swamped the old village.

If you are in need of supplies there are several supermarkets. Doctors, banks etc are also available. There are still a few traditional tavernas but more anglicised restaurants offering traditional English breakfasts. Beyond the beach some of the main draws include tribute bands and day trips to Corfu town. Which probably tells you all you need to know!

The village, now more of a town, is also known as San Stefanos. It’s not to be confused with the other Agios Stefanos on the NE of Corfu island.

The harbour can be a challenge, first because the entrance is prone to silting, second because it’s usually full of local boats. Personally, I would anchor off the beach, enjoy a swim then head somewhere else for the night.
