Erikousa / Ereikoussa (Faraways)

Erikousa is one of the Diapontia or Faraway Islands. Port Erikousa is the main harbour on the south side of the island. The island is covered in olives, cypress and reiki, a form of heather. The reiki blossoms in October, making for an impressive display.

The harbour is in a large bay with an excellent beach. There is the option of anchoring if you prefer it to the harbour.

The island has a small population of around 150 people. In the summer, they are vastly outnumbered by tourists. Many of these arrive on day trips from Corfu, though there is also some accommodation on the island. So at the end of the day, things get quieter.

Ashore you will find a few tavernas and cafes, a couple of mini markets and a doctor’s. All provisions have to be shipped in from Corfu so the choice in the mini markets is limited.

If you’re looking for sights to see or wild nightlife, Erikousa will disappoint. If you want to relax in a charming setting it’s for you.
