Cala Pi is a very beautiful but extremely popular bay east of Capo Blanco. Turquoise water, a tiny fine white sand beach and restful pine groves make for a very picturesque lunchtime stop on your flotilla route or charter yacht holiday.
Anchoring in Cala Pi is tight and when it is busy it is best to try to long line to the western side of the bay as far into the bay as you dare. Swimming buoys restrict access to the eastern side.
When the wind drops at night the swell can make things uncomfortable here as it rebounds off the steep sides of the cove.
Once a small resort town, Cala Pi now plays host to large numbers of people from the recently expanded town above so don’t expect to have this beautiful place to yourself. After a short but steep climb up steps and tracks, the town above has a wide range of restaurants as well as a bakery and small supermarket for provisioning. The bars and restaurants on the cliff edge have amazing views and are a great place to contemplate your choice of charter yacht.
There are some lovely walks in and around the neighbouring coves and along the gorge that arcs back from the beach. Cala Pi is a hot spot for a burgeoning population of Hermann’s Tortoises so keep your eyes peeled for these delightful reptiles.
