Steni Vala is a small fishing village, half way up the east side of the island of Alonissos. I really like this place though I’m not sure why, but I’m not alone to judge from the number of bareboat yachts and flotillas that visit.
The harbour boasts 3 tavernas, a couple of cafes and a supermarket that doubles as a mini museum and cafe! There are a couple of reasonable beaches within a few minutes walk, one to the south and another to the north.
Of more note is the Monk Seal rescue centre where you may get to see animals being nursed back to full health.
Steni Vala’s quay is a typical Greek affair. There’s a line of ballast (aka all the rubble that was left over when they finished) immediately in front. Large yachts generally have to hang well out and in places even smaller yachts may be best advised to come in bows too if you value your rudder (yacht charter companies generally do)! On the plus side the shelter is pretty good.
Definitely a stop not to be missed on your Sporades yacht charter.
