Pigadi / Pegadi (Ptelou Bay)

Pigadi is a small fishing village and is the harbour for the slightly larger settlement inland at Pteleos. There are a number of sandy beaches nearby, the nearest just east of the harbour. Like many places in the area, foreign visitors are largely limited to visiting bareboat and flotilla yachts. It’s more of a Greek holiday spot.

Around the harbour you’ll find a good choice of restaurants, some specialising in fresh fish. Later on take a stroll and you’ll find bars playing traditional Greek music, as well as pop alternatives.

If you need some exercise, take a walk up the hill to the west of town where you’ll find Achilles Tower- an excellent viewpoint. It was from Pigadi that Achilles allegedly set off for Troy.

A couple of miles further west of town, you’ll find the remains of Pigadi’s Venetian castle at Loutro. This offers further great views of the area. There are plenty of good beaches nearby too, including one at Lihoura, site of some Mycenaean tombs.
