Panormos is a large pine ringed bay on the west side of Skopelos. The fine pebble beach is popular and lined with sun shades during the day. Your yacht charter will at least give you te chance to see it without the covering of bodies, once the crowds head home.
The bay is in fact two. The main part, leading up to the beach is less sheltered and very deep right up to the beach, making anchoring hard. Swimming buoys are sometimes put out to add to the difficulty!
So most charter yachts head for the narrower but shallower south bay. This gets crowded so you’ll need a line ashore.
Facilities ashore are more comprehensive than you may expect. There’s a good range of tavernas and bars, but also a number of shops suitable for provisioning. It’s just a shame the place gets so busy.
