Amaliapolis is a Greek holiday village. Other than visiting charter yachts and flotillas, it sees few foreign visitors. As most Greeks holiday in August, the rest of the time it’s surprisingly quiet and the locals will give you a warm welcome.
Amaliapolis was named after Queen Amalia, the first queen of the modern Greek state, in the 1840s. It lies at the south end of Mitzellas Bay, in the Gulf of Volos.
Its main attraction is the gently sloping sandy beach. There are several tavernas (restaurants) in the village, cafes, a general store, butcher’s shop and a couple of bakeries. What more could you want!
