  • Fethiye
This popular tourist town is something of a contrast to the many one restaurant bays in the area. As well as the obligatory souvenir shops, you’ll also find local artists and cartoonists who set up their stalls on the front near the town centre. To sooth your aching muscles, there’s also a Turkish bath. Culture vultures will find ...

  • Kapi Creek
A small bay now completely filled by the restaurant and its moorings. A short walk up the hill behind the restaurant offers panoramic views of the approaches to Gocek Bay. For those with a little more energy, the local village is a little further away – ask the staff for directions. When I first visited, you ...

  • 22 Fathom Cove
And now for something completely different! A restaurant afloat, run by Gocek Bay’s local eccentric, Ragip and his long suffering wife. You’ll spot him immediately in his bearskin hat and if he really likes you he’ll show you his extensive gun collection! Ragip used to run the excellent restaurant at Cleopatra’s Bay, until the authorities deemed ...

  • Cold Water Bay / Bestas Limani / Kalevezi Koyu
The bay is named after the fresh water springs that make for a cooling swim. There’s a single restaurant offering some provisions set on the hill overlooking the bay. Highly recommended is a walk to the abandoned Greek village of Kayakoy, last inhabited in the 1920’s but still remarkably intact. The family run restaurant offers similar fare ...

  • Tomb Bay
So called because of the tombs cut in the hillside overlooking the bay. You can take a walk up the hill to see the tombs at close quarter, an experience you may find yourself sharing with the local goats. The bays’s other claim to fame is the excellent barber who also provides first rate massages without ...

  • Wall Bay
In the far south west corner of Gocek Bay is the Wall bay restaurant, run by the family that some years ago used to run the now demolished restaurant round the corner in Deep Bay. Set amongst the trees, it’s a shady spot. Food is cooked on a traditional open fire. As is usual around Gocek ...

  • Sarsala
Tucked in amongst the pine trees, this is another one restaurant bay. The speciality here is pide, traditional Turkish pizza which is served as a starter. The restaurant also offers home made pine honey which makes a better souvenir than some of the tat available in the souvenir shops in many of the larger towns. Those feeling ...

  • Karacaören
Tucked behind some rocks on the west side of Gemiler Bay, this is a great spot for some snorkelling and swimming and the family run restaurant is a friendly place. There’s often a better choice of fish here than many other places nearby and unlike many of the Gocek Bay restaurants they have showers!

  • Boynuz Buku / Laundry Bay
A classic Turkish one restaurant bay, containing nothing more than a jetty and a small restaurant. The reed beds at the head of the bay make for slightly different surroundings to the other bays in the areas. Apparently the bay was often known as Laundry Bay as boats from Gocek used to come here to wash ...

  • Tersane
A delightful spot with the shallow waters at the edge giving the air of a blue lagoon. The restaurant ashore seems to suffer mixed fortunes though it was open when I was last there, albeit without a jetty. This is surprising as it’s a popular spot, though many of the visitors during the day are trip ...
