About the Sporades Flotilla
The Sporades flotilla visits the beautiful islands of Skopelos, Alonissos and Kira Panagia. There’s the option to visit Skiathos or Peristera too.
| Base: | Loutraki | Difficulty: Intermediate | Airport: Skiathos |
| Flights from: | Gatwick, Stansted, London City, Bristol, Birmingham, East Midlands, Manchester & Newcastle |
| Qualifications: | to sail yourself: minimum ICC or RYA Coastal Skipper Practical |
| Other options: | Skippers available |
The area is renowned for it’s small whitewashed villages and sandy beaches. It shot to fame as the location for the filming of the Abba inspired Mamma Mia.
Though a popular holiday area, the crowds thin the further away from Skiathos you go. And the advantage of being on a yacht is you will reach the quiet places where the ferries don’t go.
The sailing is generally excellent, with good winds. This is one of the most popular flotillas and often one of the first to sell out, so book early.

Sporades Flotilla Itinerary
| Day | Miles | Destination | |
| 1: Fri | 0 | Check in. - Loutraki / Glossa
As ferry ports go, Loutraki must be one of the prettiest in Greece. It’s a popular stop for yachtsmen and holiday makers from Skiathos seeking a more Greek experience. Some, distracted by the beach, miss the real attraction; the village of Glossa which sits on the hill overlooking the harbour. Here, amongst the narrow alleys ... Read more

| 2: Sat | 18 | - Patitiri
Patitiri means wine press, relating to the time when the island of Alonissos was a major grape growing centre. A blight wiped out the wine trade, but all is not lost; if you’re visiting in June, do try the locally grown apricots.
The village was once just the harbour for the island’s capital, Chora, a couple ... Read more

| 3: Sun | 19 | - Kyra Panagia / Pelagos
Krya Panagia was settled in ancient times but the only remaining inhabitants are a few people who maintain the churches and monastery. They share the island with several herds of goats, cows and the odd horse.
However, the island is better known as home to one of the few remaining Monk Seal colonies and is now ... Read more

| 4: Mon | 14 | - Steni Vala
Steni Vala is a small fishing village, half way up the east side of the island of Alonissos. I really like this place though I’m not sure why, but I’m not alone to judge from the number of bareboat yachts and flotillas that visit.
The harbour boasts 3 tavernas, a couple of cafes and a supermarket ... Read more

| 5: Tue | 12 | - Skopelos Town
The whitewashed walls and terracotta roofs of Skopelos ring the large semi-circular bay. Tavernas, cafes, up market boutiques and jewellers ring the quay.
Behind this, it’s a world of steps and flowered alleys as you make your way up the hill. There’s little traffic as there’s not much room for roads!
Skopelos is Skiathos’s posh sister. It’s much ... Read more

| 6: Wed | 15 | Free sailing. Why not try:- Skiathos Town
Skiathos is an international holiday resort popular with everyone from chic Italians to backpackers, all drawn by the huge number of stunning beaches. The town is the only major settlement on the island but provides all a holidaymaker needs, from ice creams and sun cream to mini markets, bars and restaurants. It’s all done in ... Read more Or: - Agnondas Bay / Agnontas
Agnondas is a pine fringed bay with one of Skopelos’ better beaches. After a cooling swim, you can dine on fresh fish on the beach. The bay is named after an Olympic winner from 596BC who landed here when returning home.
Agnondas also serves as the backup ferry port when conditions are too rough for the ... Read more

More about the Sporades Flotilla
Unusually, the Sporades flotilla is a Friday start to suit the UK charter flights in to the nearest airport, Skiathos. Prices include your transfer between Skiathos Airport and the yacht base at Loutraki.
There is a good choice of 2 and 3 cabin yachts. However, bigger yachts are in short supply, likewise catamarans. So if you need as larger yacht, book early.
This is an intermediate level flotilla, ideal for those with a couple of flotillas under their belt. However, winds can reach up to force 4/5 as you pass between the islands so for those newly qualified I would recommend either a Peloponnese / Saronic Gulf flotilla, or an Ionian flotilla.
