Pelion flotilla

    About the Pelion flotilla

The Pelion flotilla takes in the mountainous scenery surrounding the Gulf of Oreoi and the Pagasetic Gulf. It runs with a Friday start to suit the UK charter flights. It is an intermediate level flotilla.

    Base:LoutrakiDifficulty: IntermediateAirport: Skiathos
Flights from: Gatwick, Stansted, London City, Bristol, Birmingham, East Midlands, Manchester & Newcastle
Qualifications:to sail yourself: minimum ICC or RYA Coastal Skipper Practical
    Other options: Skippers available

The flotilla sails from Loutraki on Skopelos, the first island east of Skiathos. The flotilla heads west, in to the Gulf of Oreoi, before turning north towards Volos

The route takes in the island of Skiathos and the tiny Paleo Trikeri. The other stops are a mixture of fishing villages and small tourist towns. Not that the area is overwhelmed by holiday-makers. It’s not one of the more accessible areas, unless you have a yacht!

Sailing conditions are excellent. Many choose the eastern route in preference to this one, presuming the Pelion flotilla will suffer light winds. But despite being surrounded by land much of the time, the sailing is at least as good. The hills funnel the winds on to the bay and strengths of F2-5 are common.

    More about the Pelion Flotilla

There is a good selection of 2 and 3 cabin yachts on the Pelion flotilla. However, larger yachts are in short supply so if you need as bigger yacht, book early. There are literally one or two catamarans so if you want two hulls you will need to be very quick off the mark. You will probably need to get in about a year ahead!

The nearest airport is Skiathos, served by flights from a good number of UK airports. The flotilla price includes transfers between Skiathos airport and the yacht base at Loutraki.
