For the mandatory yacht insurance, essentially covering the excess on the yacht’s insurance, there is usually a choice of:

  1. A refundable type Security Deposit, typically £1000-2500, usually taken as an authorisation on a credit card, or
  2. A non refundable Damage Waiver typically about £100-£250 which reduces the Security Deposit, sometimes to zero, more usually to £300-£500
