For a town of 2000 people, Murter packs a lot in. It’s the capital of the island, and by reputation, of the Kornati National Park: The inhabitants supposedly own most of the islands!
Murter has a host of shops and restaurants, as well as daily farmers and fish markets. With a number of churches, some Roman ruins, an excellent sandy beach at Slanica to the west of town, and a separate nudist beach a little further south, there’s something for everyone. There are also a number of cultural events throughout summer.
Many yacht charter crews will moor at Hramina, a modern village with marina just north of the town, though Bettina, to the east, is also within walking distance.
There are a number of restaurants along the sea front but also some good spots in the old town further south. Supermarkets, a baker, butcher and hardware store complement the markets. There are also banks, ATM’s, a post office, pharmacy and medical centre. So it’s a good place to restock during your bareboat charter.
And if all that still leaves you with time on your hands, hire a bike, scooter or car and explore the island.
